1. Who supplies RollVT and takes your payment
RollVT is professional video playback software for macOS, developed and supported by HALF GREY BEAR Ltd.
Registered office: 5 Canada Drive, Rawdon, Leeds, LS19 6LU, United Kingdom.
UK company number: 13904102.
VAT registration number: GB 402 5307 44.
Product and licence support: [email protected].
Paddle is our merchant of record and authorised reseller. Your payment transaction is with the Paddle entity identified at checkout and on your receipt. Paddle handles billing and payment-related support; we provide the software, licence and product support. The Paddle Buyer Terms also apply to the transaction. These RollVT terms do not reduce mandatory consumer rights or replace Paddle’s payment terms.
2. What you are buying
A paid RollVT Pro licence unlocks the Pro features described on the product page for the selected plan. It is a software licence; computers, output interfaces, drivers, video equipment and media licences are not included.
One licensed position covers a main Mac and a backup Mac for that position. A licence with several positions allows the corresponding number of main-and-backup pairs. You can manage the Macs activated on your key through the licence portal. Buying additional positions increases the licensed capacity.
The Freelancer plan is for an individual working under their own name and covers one position. We may ask you to confirm eligibility. For several positions, choose Pro Annual or Pro Lifetime.
Your staff and contracted operators may use your licensed positions for your shows.
You may also hire out a Mac with RollVT installed and activated under your licence. The hirer and their operators may use RollVT on that Mac for their shows during the hire without a separate licence or further permission from us. Hired Macs count towards your existing licensed position allowance, and you remain the licence holder. This permission applies to all paid plans, subject to their eligibility rules. Transferring or reselling the licence itself requires our separate written agreement.
3. Plans and pricing
Pro Annual and Freelancer are paid yearly and renew automatically until cancelled. Pro Lifetime is a one-off purchase for the major version identified in your order. The price, applicable tax and billing terms are shown before you confirm payment.
Your order must identify the plan, position count, currency, applicable discount, tax and total charge before you pay. The receipt records your purchase. Subscriptions must also clearly show the annual billing frequency and renewal terms. Additional positions and plan changes require a separate confirmed order; they are not authorised merely by visiting the licence portal.
For bulk licences, the tier is based on the total position count on the same key. Freelancer licences remain one position. A referral saving, where available, applies to one eligible position’s annual tariff rather than the entire fleet invoice.
4. Annual renewal and cancellation
Pro Annual and Freelancer are annual subscriptions. They renew each year unless you cancel before the next charge. Cancel through the management link in your Paddle confirmation email or through Paddle billing support. Cancellation stops future renewal; ordinary cancellation leaves the paid entitlement available for the remainder of its paid period. A refund is a separate request under the Refund Policy.
If we give you a full refund for your subscription’s current paid period, we will also cancel its future automatic renewals and confirm both outcomes; no separate cancellation request is needed. For an agreed partial refund, we will confirm the retained positions and their future renewal terms in writing.
Renewal-price changes will be communicated before they take effect, with any notice, consent and cancellation opportunity required by applicable law and Paddle’s terms. A future price change will not retrospectively change the amount already paid for the current period. Paddle Buyer Terms, subscriptions.
If no valid Pro entitlement remains, RollVT uses Basic functionality on a subsequent launch. An already licensed running session retains Pro for that session; expiry does not delete your saved show files. Check the expiry and licence status before a show and renew or check in while internet access is available.
5. Lifetime licence
Pro Lifetime is a one-off purchase of a non-expiring licence for the major version of RollVT identified in your order. It includes the point updates we release within that major version. For example, a RollVT 1.x Lifetime licence includes RollVT 1.x updates, but does not include RollVT 2 or later major versions.
A future major-version upgrade is optional and may be offered as a separate purchase. You do not have to buy it to retain your licence for the version you purchased. This does not promise indefinite development or support, or compatibility with every future operating system or device.
During normal operation, activation and periodic online check-in are required as described below. If we permanently discontinue the RollVT licensing service, we will provide affected Lifetime customers with an offline unlock for their licensed major version so they can continue using it without periodic online check-in. This does not extend the licence to a later major version or increase the number of licensed positions.
6. Delivery, activation and compatibility
RollVT is delivered electronically. After successful payment and processing, your key or confirmation is sent to the checkout email address. A renewal or additional positions may update an existing key. Contact product support if payment succeeds but the licence does not arrive or update.
Activation and periodic licence checks require an internet connection. The current maximum interval between successful checks is 30 days for Pro Annual and Freelancer, and 180 days for Pro Lifetime. A trial expiry or the end of a paid entitlement can make the permitted period shorter. These intervals are not additional free subscription time.
Use a supported RollVT release and review the published Mac, macOS, driver and output requirements before buying. Capacity depends on the complete workload: media codec and resolution, output count, compositing, network and video hardware. A main-and-backup licence does not itself guarantee seamless failover or any particular frame rate. Rehearse the actual show and output configuration, including the backup, before live use. This advice does not remove our responsibility for the product description or any rights you have when software is faulty.
7. Trials, guest passes and renewal rewards
The ordinary evaluation is 14 days. It does not automatically become a paid subscription. Where the guest programme is available, an eligible guest can receive 30 days of Pro on one main-and-backup position from confirmed activation, without a payment card or automatic charge.
Guest passes and renewal rewards are governed by their separately published programme rules and the availability shown in the licence portal. The current programme is for eligible Annual and Freelancer subscribers. A lifetime-only customer does not earn subscriber renewal rewards. Rewards are discounts on an eligible future annual renewal, have no cash value, and do not pay for a lifetime upgrade. Do not treat an unconfirmed reward quote as a confirmed renewal saving.
8. Refunds, support and your rights
The separate RollVT Refund Policy sets out our 14-calendar-day voluntary full-refund offer after purchases and annual renewals, including after activation or use, for Pro Annual, Freelancer and Pro Lifetime. It also explains individually reviewed partial refunds, the request process and the rights that remain outside that offer. Nothing here excludes rights which cannot lawfully be excluded.
For product faults or licence problems, contact [email protected]. Include the RollVT version, macOS version and a brief description of the problem. Please do not send payment-card details or confidential show media unless a suitable support arrangement has been agreed.
Product support is available by email. These terms do not include round-the-clock or on-site support or a guaranteed response time. Any separate support agreement will state its own commitments. This does not limit your mandatory rights.
9. Privacy, records and changes
Our RollVT Privacy Notice explains the personal information used for activation, support and optional programmes. Paddle provides its own privacy information for payments.
Keep the receipt and the version of these terms provided with your order. Changes to this document will apply to future purchases unless a different lawful change process is expressly agreed. We will not use a later policy to remove rights attached to a completed purchase.
Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory protection, complaint route or right to bring proceedings available to you under applicable law.
